🔒 Our Core Promise
Utilio is a local-first utility app. Your personal data—notes, history, and preferences—stays on your device. We use third-party advertising SDKs to display ads, and we request your permission before any tracking occurs. No account system is required.
All data created by the app—calculator history, encrypted notes, palettes, cached exchange rates, favorites, and custom ordering—is stored only in your device's app sandbox and never leaves your device. Advertising and tracking data is handled by our ad partners under their own privacy policies, as described in the sections below.
🛠 App Features
Utilio provides the following tools, and all processing happens locally on your device:
🔐 Permission Use
Utilio requests system permissions only when you actively use the related features, and data never leaves your device.
💾 Storage and Encryption
Local Storage
The following information is stored locally in your device’s app sandbox using UserDefaults or Core Data:
- Calculator history
- Cached exchange rates for offline use
- Saved color palettes
- Home screen tool order and favorites
- Appearance preferences
- Note password hashes stored in Keychain
Encrypted Notes
Secure notes are protected using AES-256-GCM encryption. The encryption key is generated on first use and stored in the device Keychain with the following protections:
- Protected with
kSecAttrAccessibleWhenUnlockedThisDeviceOnly - Restricted to this device only
- Never synchronized to iCloud
- Stored as SHA-256 hashes for note passwords
Deleting Data
Deleting the Utilio app permanently removes all local data, including encrypted notes, keys, history, and preferences. This action cannot be undone.
🌐 Network Access
Utilio uses network access for the following purposes:
- Currency conversion — Downloads the latest exchange rates when online and caches them locally for offline use. Data contains only currency codes and values; no personal data is sent.
- Advertising — The Appodeal ad SDK communicates with its servers to fetch and display ads. See the Advertising and Tracking sections below for details.
📊 Advertising
Utilio displays ads through the Appodeal advertising SDK, which mediates ads from multiple third-party ad networks including but not limited to AppLovin, BidMachine, and Bidon. When ads are loaded, the following may occur:
- Ad networks may collect device information such as device model, operating system version, IP address, and an advertising identifier (IDFA, if you grant tracking permission).
- This information is used by ad networks to serve and measure ad impressions, and may be used for ad frequency capping, fraud prevention, and aggregated analytics.
- Ad networks may use this data to show you more relevant ads if you have granted tracking permission.
- Each ad network processes data under its own privacy policy. We do not control how third-party ad networks use the data they collect.
Third-Party Ad Partners
The following ad SDKs are integrated in Utilio. Each link goes to the partner's privacy policy:
- Appodeal — Privacy Policy
- AppLovin — Privacy Policy
- BidMachine — Privacy Policy
Note: If you have not granted tracking permission (App Tracking Transparency), the IDFA is set to all zeros and ad networks cannot use it for cross-app tracking. Ads will still be displayed, but with reduced personalization.
📡 Tracking
Utilio complies with Apple's App Tracking Transparency (ATT) framework. Upon first launch, the app will request your permission to track. Tracking means linking information collected about you from this app with information collected by other companies' apps and websites for targeted advertising or advertising measurement purposes.
What Happens If You Allow Tracking
- Your device's advertising identifier (IDFA) is shared with advertising partners.
- Ad networks may use this identifier to deliver more relevant ads and measure ad performance across apps.
What Happens If You Deny Tracking
- Your IDFA is not shared with advertising partners (set to zeros).
- You will still see ads, but they will be less personalized.
- No cross-app tracking will occur.
Managing Your Choice
You can change your tracking preference at any time by going to Settings > Privacy & Security > Tracking on your iPhone and toggling Utilio on or off.
🚫 What We Do Not Do
- We do not collect your name, email, phone number, or other personal identifiers directly.
- We do not upload your photos, notes, calculator history, or other personal content to any server.
- We do not track your precise location.
- We do not read your contacts, messages, or other app data.
- We do not include social sharing features.
- We do not require account registration or sign-in.
- We do not track you across other apps and websites unless you explicitly grant tracking permission via App Tracking Transparency.
📱 Child Privacy
Utilio is not directed at children under 13, and we do not intentionally collect personal information from children. Because the app does not collect personal data, it is safe for children to use. If you are a parent and have concerns, please contact us using the information below.
🔄 Policy Updates
We may occasionally update this Privacy Policy. The latest version will be posted on this page and reflected in the app under Settings > Privacy & Data.
If there are material changes, we will clearly notify you in app release notes.
